This recipe for chocolate cake mix is a great base for chocolate cake pops. It’s a very easy, completely foolproof recipe and can make a really nice alternative to the vanilla flavored cake mix.
Here’s what you’ll need;
3/4 cup plain flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 cup soft butter
3/4 cup caster sugar
1.5tsp baking powder
1 egg
120ml or 1/2 cup milk
The mixture will be slightly more liquid than the vanilla one. Don’t worry. This is because of the milk but it will cook up fine and taste delicious. The milk really brings out the flavour of the chocolate and helps take away any bitterness from the cocoa.
If you’re using a food mixer, just place all the ingredients in and give it a good mix for 2 minutes – use the metal blade attachment.
If you’re doing it by hand, follow these instructions.
Step 1 – In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar. Then add the egg and mix in well.
Step 2 – Next, add the sifted flour and the cocoa powder.
Step 3 – Add the baking powder next and mix into the mixture using a metal spoon.
Step 4 – Add the milk a little at a time and mix in using the metal spoon.
Step 5 – Next, pour your mixture into a squared baking pan. How long it takes to cook depends on your oven. It only about 15 mins in my fan assisted oven. You might need to experiment a little to find out what works best for your oven and baking pan. You’ll know when it’s cooked if a cocktail stick comes out clean when stuck into the middle.
Step 6 – Leave the cake to cool for at least 30 minutes before you start to crumble it for cake pops.
thankyou very much that helped me alot !!!!!!
In step 1 it says to “cream together butter and sugar”. How much sugar? It’s not listed in ingredients.
Oh man! I didn’t add that in! How could I miss it! Thanks for the spot. I’ve updated the recipe.
